Is it possible to beat the market? Absolutely! Warren Buffett did it for many years. Unfortunately, we don’t have Warren Buffett on our team, however, I think it’s not so difficult as some would have you believe.

Think about this; the long term average return of the stock market is approximately 10%. The average return for individual investors in the stock market is 2-3%. Most individual investors underperform due to not understanding their own risk tolerance and letting their emotions get the best of them.

Consider further, the market is the totality of the stock market, which includes all investors, Yet, most individual investors see a much smaller average return than the market. That means some investors must be outperforming the average.

It’s not possible to have an average return of 10% with a significant group of investors underperforming, unless some other investors outperform enough to offset the undeperformance of all those individual investors.
